This relationship mystery noir hinges on the idea that shrinking violet Joan Fontaine does not trust her charming new husband Cary Grant. Is it her fanciful imagination that runs away with her, as she uncovers his gambling and other secrets, or is her gut telling her to be afraid, very afraid? Fontaine won the only Best Actress Oscar for the under-appreciated Hitchcock, who was nominated for five Oscars but had to settle for the Irving Thalberg honorary Oscar in 1968. Part of the Hitchcock Marathon! What better way to spend a hot July day in the Miami Valley than in the cool interior of the Victoria Theatre binging on Alfred Hitchcock?
